Definition
Impairment of language ability, when your brain knows what it wants to say but the words won't cooperate. It's like having the world's worst autocorrect installed in your speech center.
Example Usage
The stroke patient developed expressive aphasia, able to understand speech but unable to produce coherent sentences.
Origin
From Greek 'a-' (without) + 'phasis' (speech)
Fun Fact
There are many types of aphasia—Broca's aphasia affects speech production, Wernicke's affects comprehension, and global aphasia affects both, each corresponding to different brain regions.
