Definition
A complex full-body movement transitioning from lying down to standing while holding a weight overhead. Named after Turkish wrestlers, it's essentially a sobriety test that strongmen somehow turned into exercise.
Example Usage
The Turkish get-up had seven distinct steps, three of which she forgot mid-movement while a kettlebell hovered ominously above her face.
Origin
Turkish wrestling and strongman traditions, dates back centuries
Fun Fact
Old-time strongmen reportedly used the Turkish get-up as a test of total body control, because apparently just lifting heavy things wasn't complicated enough.
