mobility drills

Beginner ⚽ Sports / Fitness

Definition

Active exercises that improve range of motion and movement quality through controlled motion, as opposed to static stretching that just makes you bendy and weak. It's the difference between being a functional human and a wet noodle.

Example Usage

Her warm-up included hip mobility drills and thoracic rotations to prep for heavy squats, not the sad toe-touching of yesteryear.

Origin

From functional movement training and modern warm-up methodology

Fun Fact

Static stretching before strength training can reduce force production by up to 5%, which is why mobility drills replaced it in smart programming.
