Definition
A training method where multiple qualities (max effort, dynamic effort, repetition method) are trained simultaneously in the same week rather than in sequential blocks. It's the Westside Barbell approach that treats periodization like a mixed plate rather than a tasting menu.
Example Usage
The powerlifting team used conjugate periodization with max effort Mondays, dynamic effort Wednesdays, and repetition work Fridays.
Origin
Popularized by Louie Simmons at Westside Barbell based on Soviet training methods
Fun Fact
Conjugate periodization violates traditional periodization theory but produced some of the strongest powerlifters ever, proving sometimes rules are made to be benched.
