Advanced ⚽ Sports / Fitness

Definition

A training approach where intensity and volume are adjusted daily based on current performance and recovery rather than following a rigid plan. The art of listening to your body instead of blindly following what a spreadsheet demands.

Example Usage

Using autoregulation, I adjust my working weight based on how the bar feels today, not what I lifted when I was well-rested three days ago.

Origin

Powerlifting and strength training methodology developed in the 2000s-2010s

Fun Fact

RPE-based autoregulation has been shown to produce similar or better results than percentage-based programming while reducing injury risk and training stress.
