supinated grip

Beginner ⚽ Sports / Fitness

Definition

A hand position where palms face toward the body, also called an underhand grip. The grip that makes curls more comfortable and pull-ups slightly less soul-crushing.

Example Usage

The supinated grip allowed more bicep involvement in the row, which sounded scientific but really meant 'easier on my weak back.'

Origin

Anatomical terminology from kinesiology describing forearm rotation

Fun Fact

The terms pronated and supinated come from Latin words for 'bent forward' and 'bent backward,' respectively, though remembering which is which causes more confusion than the actual movements.
