Definition
Forcing distributors to buy more inventory than they can sell to inflate current sales figures, essentially borrowing from future sales to make today look better. It's corporate kicking-the-can-down-the-road at its finest.
Example Usage
The company hit its quarterly targets through aggressive channel stuffing, which will definitely not come back to haunt them next quarter.
Origin
American business slang from 1980s-90s, particularly common in tech and consumer goods industries
Fun Fact
Channel stuffing is technically legal but often precedes accounting scandals—it's the corporate equivalent of a toupée: everyone can tell, but nobody says anything until it falls off.
