Definition
An employee whose salary falls below the minimum of their pay range, typically due to promotion or market adjustments. The opposite of being overpaid—you're officially, systematically underpaid.
Example Usage
After my promotion, I'm green-circled at $10k below the range minimum, but don't worry, they'll 'work on it.'
Origin
Part of compensation terminology using color-coding (red-circled for overpaid, green for underpaid)
Fun Fact
Employees who remain green-circled for more than a year have a 60% higher turnover rate than properly paid peers.
