Blue Force Tracker

Definition

A GPS-enabled combat identification system that displays friendly troop positions in real-time on digital maps, theoretically preventing you from shooting your buddies. The military's answer to "Find My Friends" but with significantly higher stakes.

Example Usage

Check the Blue Force Tracker before you call in that air strike—those aren't enemy vehicles, that's Second Platoon.

Developed in the 1990s during the digital battlefield revolution

Fun Fact

The system was rushed into service during Operation Iraqi Freedom after several friendly fire incidents, proving that even the military can learn from its mistakes (eventually).
