Definition
A method of estimating body composition by passing a weak electrical current through the body to measure resistance. The scale that judges you with science and electricity simultaneously.
Example Usage
My bioelectrical impedance reading says I'm 25% body fat, but I'm pretty sure it's just being passive-aggressive about last night's pizza.
Origin
Developed in the 1960s-70s; became consumer-accessible in the 1990s with home body fat scales
Fun Fact
Bioelectrical impedance is notoriously inaccurate if you're dehydrated, have just exercised, or exist on a day ending in 'y,' varying by up to 10% based on hydration alone.
