Definition
A document outlining the advising relationship, expectations, and resources—essentially a syllabus for the relationship between advisor and student. Because apparently everything in academia requires a syllabus now.
Example Usage
My academic advising syllabus clearly states response times for emails, yet students still expect immediate replies at 2am on weekends.
Origin
Emerged from professional advising practices in the 2000s as advising became more formalized and professionalized
Fun Fact
Advising syllabi reflect the increasing professionalization of academic advising, which now has its own credentials, journals, and yes, jargon.
